The bill (Reg. No. 2461) suggests amending the Law “On the fundamental principles of health care legislation in Ukraine” in order to refine current legal basis in the sphere of health care and establish general legal basis necessary for ensuring efficient prophylaxis of rare (orphan) diseases, as well as organization of proper medical assistance to persons suffering from these diseases.

In view of topicality of this issue, Committee members approved the abovementioned legislative initiative as aiming at strengthening legal protection of persons with rare diseases and increasing the quality of diagnostics, treatment and prophylactics of rare diseases.
